In the primary classroom: Teachers can develop their own vocabulary lists and spelling lessons or use those created by other educators in the Vocabulary Spelling City community. Both phonics and whole word approach lessons are available. Students have the opportunity to print handwriting worksheets, view  “Teach Me” spelling tutorials where each word is spelled aloud and used in a context-rich sentence, take practice spelling tests, or play a game. Activities and practice quizzes can be used in literacy centers for independent learning, or word games can be projected for whole class engagement. With simple log in, students can continue to learn at home and share spelling and vocabulary lists with parents.

In the secondary classroom: Vocabulary Spelling City supports student success in content areas with grade appropriate vocabulary lists. Math lists feature vocabulary for algebra, statistics and probability, geometry and more. Language arts lessons are available on topics ranging from grammar to metaphorical language. Students can select from a range of learning activities, from online flash cards to figurative language quizzes.
